About

Hemsley House

Hemsley House was originally built as Salford Masonic Hall in the late 1920s and early 1930s, serving as a dedicated meeting place for the Freemasons in the area. Situated on The Crescent, Salford, just 5 minutes from Manchester city centre, its classical limestone façades and elegant architectural details were carefully chosen to honour its historic surroundings.

The hall officially opened in 1932, with a ceremony led by Lord Derby, the then Lord Mayor of Salford, and hosted its first Masonic meeting soon after. For many decades, it remained a hub for local craft lodges and Royal Arch chapters, playing an important role in the community.

More recently, the building has been thoughtfully adapted for wider community use and is now known as Hemsley House. Today, it offers elegant function suites for weddings, celebrations, conferences, and events, all while retaining its distinctive historic character and charm, making it one of Salford’s most treasured buildings.
